WoW is one of the most popular online games, thats why it's called MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game). The basic game is split on two islands-Kalimdor (horde territory) and Eastern Kingdoms (alliance territory). Well alliance are supposed to be the good guys and hordes are evil, so that's why they are in war.
Alliance races:
-human
-dwarf
-night elf
-gnome
-draenei (with The burning crusade expansion)
Horde races:
-orc
-undead
-troll
-tauren
-blood elf (with The burning crusade expansion)
Every race has their unique abilities. Every race is divided to classes.
There are 9 different classes:
-warrior
-hunter
-warlock
-mage
-shaman
-druid
-paladin
-priest
-rouge
(with new expansion The wrath of the Lich King there will be added a new class-death knight)
In WoW your character can reach level 70 (you can't be any higher level...except with the new expansion The wrath of the Lich King there will be 80 levels). Every 2 levels you make there are new spells available to learn at your class trainer (you can find them in every bigger city)...but you need to pay for those spells. Every class has 3 available "talent trees" where you can spend your talent points that you gain 1 for every level you make from level 10+. When your character reaches level 40 you can buy yourself a ridable pet that gives you 60% more speed...at level 60 you can buy a ridable pet that gives you 100% more speed...and with the expansion The burning crusade there is open a whole new world-Outland, where you can get at level 70 a flying ridable pet that can only be used in Outland.
For almost everything you need money...there are 3 different types of money:
-copper coins
-silver coins
-gold coins
100 copper coins = 1 silver coin
100 silver coins = 1 gold coin
1 gold coin = 10000 copper coins
Some things can be bought with honor points or justice badges etc.
You gain honor points by PvP (player versus player)...so if you are alliance you need to kill hordes for honor points and if you are horde you need to kill alliance players to get honor points. But you get honor points only if you kill the opposite side player that is 10 levels higher of lower of you.
Some bigger cities of hordes:
-Orgrimmar - orcs and trolls
-Thunder Bluff - taurens
-The Undercity - undeads (on Eastern Kingdoms)
-Silvermoon city - blood elves (on Eastern Kingdoms)
Some bigger cities of alliance:
-Stormwind - humans
-Ironforge - dwarfs and gnomes
-Darnassus - night elves (on Kalimdor)
-Exodar - draeneis (on Kalimdor)
There are different ways to level up your character:
-doing quests
-killing mobs (monsters/creatures)
-killing with party (group of 2-5 players that kill together and they share experience points and loot (loot is picking up items and money that killed mob drops)
-raid (group of 2-40 players doing more complicated and harder things together...similar to party)
-doing instances (special places that u enter them through portal gates and inside there are elite mobs (with more life and stronger attacks but they drop better things too) and bosses (a lot better than elite mobs)
The same ways that are written above you can get a lot of money.
Each character can learn 2 of the following professions:
-alchemy
-blacksmithing
-enchanting
-engineering
-herbalism
-jewelcrafting
-leatherworking
-mining
-tailoring
-skinning
(plus you can learn cooking, first aid and fishing as your secondary profession)
With professions you can make very good things (depends on your level of that profession) and u can sell them.
Now there is added a new island above Eastern Kingdoms called Sunwell. It's a city of blood elves and draeneis. There are few good instances to do.
