Skins > Enhanced Mercenary
It's surprising how simple, little changes can make a skin look better.

Even though this is a simple recolour, it's done very well. The mercs actually look like real mercs now, professionals. They don't stand out as much and the colouring of the vest is especially nice, fits in with the rest of the suit.

The gloves are damn sexy and look detailed. Gas-mask is a very nice touch, too. Default was too green. Pistol holster is also great, the default was too blurry and undetailed. I like your attention to detail.

I'm surprised, I have no commentary to add. Very nice skin, I like it.

You sir, show promise. Keep making more. :)

Skins > Mgsl's texture pack
Some textures in this pack are actually quite good if simple recolours. The colt and Makarov, for example. Others are far from realistic and don't show much effort at all.

Most of these retain too many default features from the original skins, and others are just plain shoddy jobs, to be honest.

The colouring on the Winchester does not work at all. The default parts are too bright, making the overly dark and matte pump look out of place. It doesn't look wooden, either.

The L-85 is just plain strange, I think. SA-80's/L-85's don't have wooden grips, which would be okay if you weren't aiming for realism. It's hard to tell if it's wood or not, though. If it isn't, again, use a different colour, preferably something greenish. The brown is far too dark.

The wood on other weapons, like the AKs-74u and AKS-74M does not fit in at all. First off, the metal from the defaults is too brightly coloured on the AKS-74M and is not a very good texture. The AKS-74M is just plain strange, why are the synthetic parts coloured like that? Does not fit in at all, I think.

This is not bad for a beginning, but you need to try more things, work on the metal, don't just recolour defaults. Well, you can recolour, but make more radical changes. The wood on the Russian weapons is horrendous, to be honest. It's easy to find a good wood texture on google you can use if you have trouble making your own. If you put dark furniture on guns, make the rest of the gun darker so it fits in.

Overall, this pack is just a simple addition of wood to existing default textures, simple, average, but not well executed. Keep practicing, hope you get better.

Yes yes yes! Freaking original!

And this skin has one quality that many "Russian" skins lack.

Realism and accuracy.

I love it. Even though you're limited by the default model, I like this alot. The colouring is great, Bondarchuk's face is a nice touch, and did I mention it's accurate and original? I, as a Russian, appreciate this, muzhik.

What I don't like is that some textures, like the holster and packs, look a little blurry. I think they're photoskinned. The face doesn't line up 100% with the model, but it's mostly the fault of the model wearing a face-mask. Not your fault.

I love it and I hope to see more real Russian skins soon. Oh, and a new model would make me so turned on that my penis might explode from the sheer arousal caused by the awesomeness.

Skins > Rambo II Knife
Eh, a pretty simple reskin. The black part is just solid black, seems like there's no texture there at all. At least stamp a metal texture there and tint it black so it looks better.

This idea has alot of potential, but this execution I fear is not that good. It's not that detailed on the blade as I said. It would be best if you re-made the entire texture from scratch rather than recoloured the default one, as the effect would be much better than what you have here.

Overall it's decent, but doesn't take alot of effort to make something like this.

Skins > Clear Sky Makarov retexture
Wow, arseloads of effort, detail, and beauty, just what I came to expect from you, hehe.

The skin in terms of quality is just amazing.

A few criticisms relating to realism: the safety and hammer of the Makarov is not supposed to be brown metal or plastic, its colouring is supposed to match that of the slide as it's the same material. Just a pointer.

The metal on the slide and frame is perfect, it's not matte-black like most Makarov reskins, and matches that of the real-world counterpart. It's not matte and slightly shiny, which is great and realistic. Great job, I hope to see more from you. You are my mentor. :)

Skins > b00by's ak-74 skin
It's a realistic skin, looks good. All I can complain about are the areas that look too bright on the metal. Like right behind the slide (zatvor). You should really try to make the gun look more even when it comes to brightness.

Other than that, I like how the grip and magazine look. They're a little blurry, but still nice. I suggest you darken them slightly, though.

Also, one last bit of criticism, the skin is far too desaturated, there's no colour at all. :D

Next time, don't make the skin look so black and white. Just desaturate slightly until you like how it looks. My photoshop crashes now, so I can't tell you exactly where, but it's somewhere under "variations" where you can tweak that.

One more suggestion: On this site, people demand idle 1st person screenshots, so it would be nice to have them. You can also take good screens by throwing the weapon on the ground and using your binoculars, or the floating camera by typing " demo_record stalker " command in cosole (without quote marks).

Well, I gotta be honest, it doesn't look good. It looks like you took the default SoC skin, darkened the grips and lowered the saturation, and brightened the metal. Looks exactly like an experiment I did once. Not that much of an improvement over the original Clear Sky SIG-550, that skin looked much better and realistic, in my opinion.

The bumpmaps look horrendous, to be honest. I hate to be so blunt, but that's how it is. It looks like the auto-generated ones from the vehicles on the metal parts, it resembles tin foil with all those wrinkles and bumps as a real gun would never look like that, in my opinion. It's also far too reflective and shiny, especially on the grips. Looks like wet rubber covered in plastic wrap. Other guns in Clear Sky, such as the Colt 1911 and Fort-12 have the same problem by default, but you made this, and it's a big step down.

What I can say is that you should use the default as a base, don't play too much with the brightness, use contrast instead. Copy and stamp parts from other Sig-550 skins, like combining the grip of the SoC skin with the Clear Sky one. I can't give any pointers on the bumpmaps other than how bad they look as I can't make proper ones myself. I prefer to use ones I know work properly or custom ones with authors' approval.

You need more practice with recoloring. Even though this is not a particularly good skin, it's a start, it's practice, and it's critique you can use to refine your skills. Hopefully you'll take what I and others say and keep on making realistic Stalker textures and recolors.

P.S. This skin seems to be for Clear Sky, not Shadow of Chernobyl. Even though they work for both, I think you should be more mindful of which category you use in the future.

Skins > Jungle Camo L85 1.0
For a simple overlay on the green parts, it looks good. Problem is, the seams are clearly visible where the camo part abruptly ends on the handguard and continues differently, as if it's two different sheets of paper stuck on top of each other, hope you understand what I mean. Look at the top right corner of the handguard in the 2nd screenshot.

Now that you have the grips looking good, the metal seems totally out of place. You should at least darken it somewhat and smooth it out by lowering the noise.

It's quite a simple recolor, nothing special. I'll admit that the type of camo you used as good, but this is just a simple overlay, still.

Not bad, just keep practicing and have higher ambitions. :)
