With your logic Lost, Book cover illustrators should be called authors too. They arent authors, they are contributors, and are given credit in the readme.txt that comes with the map. Thats the way its always been done.

Comic books have writers and artists, both are authors of the book yes? they both have their name on the front page. One did all the writing and story, the other didn't, but the first guy didn't do any of the drawing that made of the rest of it, that was the second guy. Each has their part, no matter the size.
Open any book with an illustrated cover, it lists the writer and the illustrator, both are authors of their own work.
Where does it say that all the names in the authors list means they all made the map together? its a complete list of all authors involved in the submission, from textures and prefabs down to models and scripts even.
Ah yes, we agree. Credit where credit is due. Do you know where book illustrators get credit. They get credit in a little footnote inside the book. Do you know where book illustrators do not get credit. The do not get credit in big block capital letters on the front of the book side by side with the writers name.
